What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese technique for stress reduction and
relaxation that also promotes healing. Developed in 1922, by Mikao Usui, Reiki strengthens the immune system and stimulates the body's own natural healing potential. It is a safe compliment to
traditional care, enhancing the results of medical treatments, reducing pain and stress and accelerating the healing process. The benefits of Reiki can be both curative and preventative. Reiki is
currently being used by many health care professionals including doctors, nurses, physical therapists, chiropractors and psychotherapists.
Reiki is a proven holistic system that balances, heals and harmonizes on every level of our being including physical, mental, emotional and spiritual. It is non-invasive and can be used to treat physical and mental conditions without using pressure or manipulation, making it suitable for everyone including infants, expecting mothers, the elderly, and even our beloved animal friends.
Dr. Mehmet Oz has talked about Reiki on Oprah and featured a segment on his own television show. He was also one of the first physicians to include a Reiki practitioner in his department at The Columbia Presbyterian Medical Centre in New York City. The New York Times Magazine reported that Dr. Oz has allowed the use of Reiki during open heart surgeries and heart transplant operations. He's said "Reiki has become a sought-after healing art among patients and mainstream medical professionals." His wife Lisa is a Reiki Master.
